Al Jaber Group wins $490M contract to build new airport in Saudi Arabia

Abu Dhabi-based Al Jaber Group‘s Saudi division has inked a $490 million contract to develop a new airport in Abha, Saudi Arabia.

According to the plans, the project would include a new 86,000 sqm. passenger terminal that will be equipped to accommodate five million passengers every year.

The project will also feature 20 passenger boarding bridges, a parking apron for planes and parallel corridors to accommodate 26 planes at the same time.

The airport, the construction of which is expected to take around 36 months, will also have a car parking building that will be able to accommodate 2,800 cars.

Al Jaber Group chairman Obaid Khaleefa Al Jaber Al Marri said: “Al Jaber Group KSA branch is witnessing substantial growth since we started our operations in Riyadh last year. We were able to compete and win sizable projects mainly the Abha Airport development project. These wins reflect the ongoing success of Al Jaber Group and our ability to deliver best-in-class services.

“We are looking to winning more projects in the Saudi market in the near future. Al Jaber Group is well-positioned to benefit from the increased momentum in the launch of new projects in this strategic market.”

The Gulf Business reported that following this contract win, the company is also aiming at securing new projects in the kingdom.
