Bank Muscat has partnered with the Royal Oman Police to launch a biometric identification system to improve customer service in branch transactions. Bank Muscat’s new biometric system is compatible with the Sultanate’s national identification card, making it the first of its kind in the banking sector in Oman.
To authenticate banking transactions at Bank Muscat branches, customers must insert their national identification card in the biometric machine and validate their identity by scanning their fingerprint on the machine.
Available across the bank’s 139 branches, the biometric identification system is aimed at improving efficiency and speed of transaction processing by accurately capturing biometric data during banking transactions, especially when opening new accounts.
The system has improved the customer experience by creating a one-touch customer identification and transaction authentication process that is faster, more convenient and risk free, which is ultimately in line with the e-governance initiative of the government.
