Secutech wrapped up its 2015 edition earlier last month, with organizers proclaiming that 2,527 visitors (2,660 in 2014, another 5% drop) had attended the show at the Nangang Exhibition Hall, Taipei, Taiwan during its 3-day run.
That is another slump in visitor numbers three years in a row.
The attendance figures, which could not be independently verified, would represent an accomplishment for the show’s organizers, because it appeared that the physical size of the event had shrunk significantly since 2013, which in turn was smaller than the 2012 and 2013 versions.
Although advance press materials again promoted over thirty thousand square feet of exhibition space this year, it appeared that during press previews on April. 28-30 that there was no more than about 35,875 square feet based on my calculations.
The lesser figure would seem to have some validity, as a number of previous exhibitors, like Bosch Security, Dynacolor, Genetec, Geovision, HDPRO did not attend.
Many of the displays were notably smaller than in previous Secutech shows. Still, event organizers claimed more than 100 major new vehicle debuts this year, roughly the same as in 2012.
