Singapore’s Changi Airport will install a facial recognition system at its terminal 4, which is currently under construction. The new system will use a photo of the passenger during check-in, immigration and boarding and will eliminate the need for manual security checks.
The facial recognition system will work along with various fast and seamless travel (FAST) facilities such as self-service and automated options for check-in, bag tagging, immigration clearance and aircraft boarding.
Terminal 4 is expected to commence operations in 2017, with 70% of the construction already completed.
The airport has approved five more airlines, AirAsia Berhad, Indonesia AirAsia, Thai AirAsia, Korean Air and Vietnam Airlines, to operate from the new terminal, along with Cathay Pacific.

The terminal is spread over 195,000 sqm. and is expected to accommodate an estimated 16 million passengers.
