South Korea has reportedly revealed plans to build a $3.5 billion airport on Jeju island, in a bid to meet the increasing passenger traffic. Korean Land and Transport Ministry as saying that the new airport with one-runway will be constructed on the eastern part of the island. Korean health care solution firm Hidea Solutions has launched the world’s first remote health care, or telecare, solution running on the Long Term Evolution, or 4G, network, dubbed LivOn Silvercare.  The LTE-based telecare solution is aimed at enabling caregivers to monitor elderly or people with disabilities in real time and respond to emergencies in a swift manner. Samsung to build smart factories

Tech giant Samsung Electronics said Monday it would join forces with the Ministry of Trade, Industry, and Energy to make conventional factories run by small and mid-sized enterprises “smarter.” Signing a memorandum of understanding on the day, Samsung and the ministry agreed to make a joint investment of $25 million to refurbish the outdated factories. South Korean credit card issuer plan biometric deployments

South Korean credit card issuers, banks and smartphone manufacturers are planning biometric payment options after the Financial Services Commission, the country s top financial regulator, approved the technology earlier this year. BC Card, a leading credit card issuer, plans to become the the first local financial institution to launch a biometric recognition and settlement service next month, using a fingerprint recognition system.

South Korea’s Incheon International Airport has installed Type22-built Scan&Fly system to offer self bag drop services to its passengers. LG to build new R&D center in Korea’s Changwon

LG Electronics said Sunday it plans to build a new research and development center for its home appliance division due for completion by 2017 in Changwon, South Gyeongsang Province. The company started the construction work early this month, with a budget of $182 million.
